Frequently asked questions
How long does Annie Sloan paint need to dry before waxing?
It is suggested to leave a piece for 24 hours before adding a layer of wax. A piece will take 30 days to cure in its entirety, but you should be able to use it gently within 24 hours.
What happens if you dont wax Annie Sloan chalk paint?
There is a downside to a poly finish that isnt an issue with wax. Poly top coats can sometimes pull tannins from the wood through the porous chalk paint creating yellowish spots. Wax doesn't react with wood the same way a poly does, which is why this doesnt happen with wax
Does chalk paint leave brush strokes?
If you do not want brush strokes on your chalk painted furniture, the best is to thin out any thick paint with a bit of water and mix well. Chalk paint can thicken up when the lid is off so make sure you close the lid tightly.
